Cobra Starship Profile
Cobra Starship is an American alternative rock/dance/synth-pop band from New York City.
Formed in 2005 by Gabe Saporta – the former vocalist/bassist of the pop punk group Midtown – the band first became known after their single Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) was used on the film of the same name. The group subsequently released their debut album While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets.
Their second album Viva La Cobra! was a big disappointment, but they soon came to attention again with their cover of Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl, called I Kissed a Boy – featured on Fall Out Boy’s 2008 mixtape Welcome to the New Administration.
Their third album, 2009’s Hot Mess, was their biggest success to date – reaching number four on the Billboard 200 and producing the Top 10 hit Good Girls Go Bad.
Cobra Starship’s fourth album is due out in early 2011.
